Some features on this blog are not available on the mobile version commonly used by cell phone users even in landscape mode. The blog does display correctly on my computer and tablet. In addition, I only realized a couple of days ago that material I embed from Facebook is not available to cell phone users. I have added some direct links Facebook posts to accommodate cell phone users in recent posts and will continue to do so. I continue to embed videos from YouTube and occasionally Venmo. I do try to be cautious about posting or embedding links from Facebook where I try to only go to trusted sources, such as known aviation contractors or federal and/or state government agencies. When I share YouTube videos, I try to be cautions and only share videos from reliable sources. I always post a direct link in case the embedded link does not work. Some browsers may handle links and embed code differently and perhaps your browser won't display the graphics. Perhaps you have an extension blocking the code and you do not want to disable the extension. in addition, you may choose not to change browser settings or use a different browser. Be assured that I understand and respect your choices.

NWS Advisories, Watches & Warnings

What started as simple conversations with a couple of friends about Fire Weather Watches and Red Flag Warnings issued by the National Weather Service lead me to write a much longer article: National Weather Service Advisories, Watches, & Warnings with a Focus on Fire Weather. NJ Forest Fire Service & NJ Fire Weather

NJ Statewide Fire Statistics

2023 According to a February 27, 2024 News Release from the NJDEP, 1,194 wildfires burned over 18,000 acres in 2023.

2024 In an April 27, 2024 Facebook Post, the NJ Forest Fire Service reports that 332 wildfires have burned more than 800 acres since January 1st.

When I come to the edge of all the light I know, and am about to step off into the darkness of the unknown. Faith is knowing one of two things will happen: either there will be something solid to stand on or I will be taught how to fly.
