I have blogged about aerial wildland firefighting since 2009. I am not a firefighter and am not a pilot, just an interested bystander who wants to learn more and share what I learn here. Join me here as I blog on the aircraft and the pilots who fight wildland fires from the air in support of crews on the ground. I also blog on concerns affecting fire crews on the ground as well as other aviation and meteorology issues. Learn what it takes to do jobs that are staffed by the best of the best.

Silver Fire (southern CA)
direct link to video from the Envenomater1 on Youtube
I am taking a short time out from my series on the A-26 Invader Tankers, to return either later today or tomorrow, to share this on scene footage of the Silver Fire shot on Aug. 7 by Nick Mitchell (aka the Envenomater1).
As I write this article, the Silver Fire has burned 16,000 acres in Riverside County CA near Banning Pass, 27 structures (26 residences) are destroyed. Six people, five firefighters and one civilian, have been injured. The fire was first reported on August 7 about 2 PM PDT and is currently at 25 percent containment. See this CAL FIRE incident page for more information.
