A young man, 18-year old Dariel Vasquez, was killed by a fallen tree on Saturday will fighting the Jennings Creek Fire on the New York side of the wildfire in Sterling Forest. The PIX 11 report says that he is still a high school senior and played baseball. However, I saw another report that says that he has graduated from high school. In any event, this is very sad. A young man just getting started is dead while working to save others. His family organized a GoFundMe page in his memory raising over $70,000 in a few hours, donations are disabled as I write this.
