2018 Wildfire Season: California Wildfires (July 27th)

I do want to follow-up on my July 25th article on the 2018 wildfire season in Europe, I will do so later tonight or tomorrow. But first, I do want to acknowledge some of the recent wildfire activity in California.

• The Ferguson Fire (Mariposa County) was first reported on July 13th. As I write this it has burned 45,911 acres and is at 29 percent containment. Mandatory evacuation orders are in place. National Weather Service (NWS)  Incident Meteorologist (IMET) from the NWS Anchorage Alaska deployed to Ferguson fire on July 25th and a second IMET, this one from the NWS Wilmington NC was deployed to this fire on July 25th.
• The Cranston Fire (Riverside County) was first reported on July 25th. As I write this it has burned 11,500 acres and is at 3 percent containment. Mandatory evacuation orders are in place.
• The Carr Fire (Shasta County) was first reported on July 23rd. As I write this it has burned 44,450 acres, 65 residences have been destroyed and 55 damaged. Mandatory evacuation orders are in place. NWS IMET from NWS Reno Nevada deployed to the Carr fire on July 25th
