To the best of my ability, I try to follow wildfires in New Jersey and the activities of the New Jersey Forest Fire Service. In my wonderings during the spring wildfire season in New Jersey, which is coming to a close soon, I was vaguely aware that there may have been some wildfires in Passaic County New Jersey but had no specific information. Last week I ran across a May 4th article on NJ Advance Media that these wildfires are under investigation by the New Jersey Forest Fire Service, and other state and local agencies. No additional information has been released about this investigation or the location of these wildfires.
I have blogged about aerial wildland firefighting since 2009. I am not a firefighter and am not a pilot, just an interested bystander who wants to learn more and share what I learn here. Join me here as I blog on the aircraft and the pilots who fight wildland fires from the air in support of crews on the ground. I also blog on concerns affecting fire crews on the ground as well as other aviation and meteorology issues. Learn what it takes to do jobs that are staffed by the best of the best.
